Plumbers are solely responsible for welding purposes. Not only are they experts for the job, they have knowledge about welding which no others possess. Plumbers are responsible for welding of pipes. The water pipes are usually made of lead. Lead being the mixture of two or more metals; it is slightly stronger than the metal alone. Furthermore, it has the ability to prevent corroding or reacting with salts in the water.
Apart from the lead pipes, there are plastic pipes in use today as well. These pipes are just like the conventional pipes but have the tendency to melt faster than the lead. Therefore, the lead pipes are more common in London area.
Talking of pipes, it is to our concern how two pipes are connected together? We might think of the process as long and hard; yet it is a quick but complicated process. The most common way of connecting two pipes is by welding. Welding is the method Plumbers Woolwich use involving heat and pressure. Being the most conventional method of joining pipes, it requires a fire filler or torch to get the two pipes to connect. The method includes the torch burning through the pipes and melting their edges. The edges of two pipes are then joined together and pressure is applied onto them. This ensures that the two pipes sticks together without breaking lose.
Yet another way of welding is by using the solvent. A solvent is used in case of connecting two plastic pipes. This method works exactly on the same principle of conventional welding. However in this method, the plumbers are supposed to pour down a specified quantity of melting solvent onto the plastic pipe edges and melt some part of them. The pipes are then pushed together and pressure is applied on them. This ensures the plastic pipes forming one complete entity.
